Radiation protection courses
All half-day radiation protection courses are held in the Faraday Building at King’s College Hospital. The three-day residential courses for radiation protection supervisors are held off-site at the Salomons Centre in Tunbridge Wells.
In addition, we offer a range of ad-hoc courses that can be tailored to your needs.

Course details
Radiation protection for dental x-ray operators
A half-day course for dental x-ray equipment operators covering the basics of x-ray safety and legislation. This course is aimed at any health professional making dental x-ray exposures.

20 April, 3 August and 2 November
Radiation safety for laboratory workers
A half-day course for laboratory workers providing practical advice on the safe use of radioactive substances and compliance with radiation protection regulations.

Radiation protection for x-ray referrers
This half-day course is aimed at health professionals making x-ray referrals under the Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2000. It covers radiation risks and the role of the referrer.

Radiation protection supervisors

- Diagnostic radiology & radiotherapy
Two three-day residential courses covering the roles and responsibilities of radiation protection supervisors. They are run in partnership with Medical Physics at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and provide the knowledge base for supervisors recommended by the Health & Safety Executive.

Diagnostic radiology & radiotherapy – 4-6 July
Radiation protection advisers
Four- or five-day modular course providing the theoretical background and training necessary for the radiological protection requirements of both ionising and non-ionising radiations used in hospitals. It is run in partnership with the Joint Department of Physics at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust.
The course is aimed at hospital physicists working in radiation protection and professionals interested in expanding their knowledge in this field, particularly those who want to become radiation protection advisers.
